I have discovered that when we have difficulty achieving our objectives it's often due to 2 basic reasons:

  • Inability to connect all the pieces together to yield the desired outcome.

Interestingly, it's not the ability to understand what you'd like to do; rather it's the inability to translate a general desire into a specific outcome via a very specific plan.

That's why we hear people saying "I've got to do better" or "I want to have a 20% increase in sales this year" or "I'm going to acquire 50 new clients this year." The question is: how is this going to happen? Because we usually see no specific plan of action the desired change usually doesn't occur.
