What if you knew what you wanted but didn't know how to get it?
Our behavior today is based upon our experiences and decisions made when we were younger. Those decisions were made for good reasons and are often firmly embedded. Without further exploration, those earlier decisions stand guard against change, and don't necessarily serve as well today. Effective assessments can reveal our early thoughts and feelings and thus empower us to change.

A common misconception is that a description of the symptoms is an accurate description of the underlying problem. Assessment instruments can penetrate the symptoms and reveal the root cause of the problem. This newfound information can then serve as a springboard to changed and improved performance.
Most of us have had experiences like these. And we’ve probably been stymied and can’t seem to break through the resistance — or mystery — of what’s getting in our way. Even when we know what we should do, we often find that we don’t do it.
Here are some issues that assessments can address:
- How many times have you told yourself that you’re going to start prospecting more effectively but discover that you haven’t done it?
- How many times have you told yourself you are going to upgrade your clientele and work primarily with "A" prospects, and then discovered you haven't done it?
- How many times have you told yourself that you’re going to run your practice like a real business—and then have never done it?
Fixing the Problem
You can’t fix it and change it — unless you can name the problem.
- “A problem well defined is a problem half resolved.” The deceptive part of this saying is that it’s critical to define the problem, clearly, before you engage in a plan to correct the problem. As described above, there are often hidden or unknown factors that are having a profound impact on your behavior. So long as these issues, attitudes and ideas operate off our radar screen, we are unable to do anything but maintain the status quo. Fortunately, there is help available to unlock these mysteries.
Assessment Instruments
Assessments function like an x-ray of our attitudes and beliefs. They help us uncover what’s happening outside our range of consciousness. Using our package of assessments allows us to unlock this door to what’s going on inside to get at the truth of our behavior. When the information is revealed, it is tremendously freeing and empowering. Armed with accurate information about ourselves, we can then make the changes to acquire the habits we truly desire.
